Physically I am here with y’all starting my Monday morning, but mentally I am still back at Hopscotch soaking in all the fine art and good vibes. If you haven’t yet heard of it, Hopscotch is an immersive art gallery that is celebrating their one year anniversary this month! A friend and I had the pleasure of visiting over the weekend and it’s honestly one of those things I could do over and over again and never get tired of it.
And trust me, I know when you hear “art gallery” the image that comes to mind are a ton of paintings hung up on white walls, some of which don’t make any sense at all. Well, Hopscoth is the exact opposite! Almost all of the installations are interactive – think light projections, things you can literally jump into, phones to listen to other people’s recorded secrets, a room made of literal trash, and another that’ll make you feel like you’re part of the “Stranger Things” intro – literally the list goes on and on.
One room is of particular importance – this installation is known as “GAZE” and is in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBTQ+ equality.
