Pumpkin Patches Around San Antonio

As I sit down to make this list, it’s a cool and crisp 74 degrees outside (with a high of 82 for the day). How great does that sound? If you’re used to San Antonio weather, you know these kind of days are few and far between. Perfect pumpkin picking weather if you ask me.

It’s of course the middle of October so spooky season is definitely upon us and pumpkins are all the rage right now. Whether you’re seeking some out to make pumpkin pie, bread, or simply just for decor, you need to be on the “in” when it comes to patches around town. Below you’ll find just that – a list of some of the spots you can pick up a little orange fella and call it a day. Be sure to snag a couple of minis too, those are always such a hit.

One other thing to note is that they will be hosting a movie night in the patch on October 15th at 7pm. Bring your lawn chair and snacks and enjoy Disney’s “Coco” under the stars!

Helotes Hills United Methodist Church

I live a couple of minutes from this church so this particular patch has always been my go-to! Easy location, great parking, cute little wooden cutouts for photo ops, and what seems like an infinite amount of pumpkins! I saw teeny tiny ones, huge ones, white ones, gourds, and some funky looking green ones!

Located right off Bandera Road, this one’s hard to miss. Since they are typically busier on the weekends, try and pay them a visit during the week. Quick side note, pumpkin bread will be sold until they run out for the day. Pumpkin sales began October 3rd and will continue through Halloween or until sell out.

Braune Farms Pumpkin Patch

Probably the most important thing to note about this patch is that when you visit, you’re visiting an actual farm with a real life pumpkin patch! When you arrive at the farms, you will be greeted in the parking area before taking a hayride to the entrance. From there, you can continue the hayride to the pumpkin patch or take part in some other activities like face painting, corn crib, bean bag toss, and more. Once in the patch, you can walk the rows to find your favorite pumpkin and then catch one of their hayrides back to the activity and checkout area where your pumpkin will be sized for purchase. Admission and parking is free! The purchase of a pumpkin helps support their family run farm and allows them to bring this unique tradition to the community every year!

Note, since this is a real pumpkin patch on a working farm, you will be walking in actual rows of pumpkins and vines. You can expect dirt and sometimes taller grasses so please wear appropriate shoes to protect you and your kiddos.

Hours: Noon to 4pm during the following dates

  • October 9-10
  • October 16-17
  • October 23-24

Tower of the Americas

What’s more San Antonio than a pumpkin patch at the Tower of the Americas? Not to mention, the photos you could get from this location?! Ahh such vibes! Pack up the kiddos and head out starting on the 16th for some good local fun.

Also, just in case you’d like to make a return trip, the Tower will also be hosting a free Market Day on October 30th of this year. From 11am to 4pm, folks can browse, shop, and enjoy over 30 different vendors local to San Antonio. This event is family friendly and will be featuring music and food.
